On Friday 4/20 and Friday 4/27 Mr. Chandler’s 8thgrade computer science class hosted drone specialist, Matt King, from Butler Tech for a hands-on drone learning experience.
The students had an indoor lesson where they talked about the growing popularity of drones and how drones are being used in different industries, like agriculture, news, utility inspection, public safety and shipping. Students were also taught current drone regulations, how to check the weather for flying and drone ethics. There was also a rescue mission simulation that students participated in.
The students also had an outdoor lesson where they were shown some different models of drones, how to control a drone and they even got to fly some. With the larger drone, students had a chance to wear FPV (first-person view) goggles, so they could see what the drone sees.
