Edgewood Experience Features EMS Reverse Career Fair

We are excited to share another Edgewood Experience video with you! This video highlights our recent Reverse Career Fair. In preparation for the event, students were challenged to research the required training, education & skills need to be successful in a chosen career. After the research was completed, each group created an information board to present during the Fair. As teachers, guests, and fellow students visited their display, they shared what they learned about their career choice. It was a great way to learn about future career opportunities.

EMS Student Threatens School

Our Edgewood Middle School Administrators were notified this afternoon, April 15, about a student who made threats last week to “shoot up the school”. Our Administrators acted quickly, upon learning about these threats. They removed the student from class, investigated the situation & contacted Butler County Sheriff. The student was removed from school property. No weapons were found and the student has been charged by Butler County Sheriff. Everyone was safe. Percussion Ensemble Visit Professional Recording Studio in Nashville

Our Edgewood Percussion Ensemble spent time in Nashville, TN over spring break at a professional recording studio. Mr. Nick Fields accompanied this group of students from EHS and EMS so they could perform and experience a professional recording studio session. The Ocean Way Nashville recording studio is world renowned and has had several country and rock stars record their hits there. The students had a wonderful time learning about recording engineering and getting their music recorded professionally.

April 8-12 is National Assistant Principals Week. This week has been designated by the NASSP to honor and recognize the contributions of assistant principals to the success of students in schools across the United States. Edgewood is fortunate to have four assistant principals in our district- Mrs. Ruether at EMS, Mr. Sigmon at EES, and at EHS Mrs. Limon and Mr. Ahlers. Edgewood Experience Video features: Preschool Program at Babeck

We continue to feature different events, classes, and unique opportunities offered at Edgewood through our "Edgewood Experience" videos. This is our 4th video and it features our Preschool program offered exclusively at Babeck Early Childhood Center. Registration for next school year's Preschool class will takes place on Tuesday, April 16 from 6pm- 7pm, at Babeck. This video spotlights many of the benefits offered through our Preschool program as well as many of our littlest Cougars! If you have a child ready to attend Preschool next year (or you know someone who does), this video will provide you with a special preview of what your child will experience!

Reverse Career Fair

Our EMS 7th & 8th Graders hosted a Reverse Career Fair on Friday, March 22. They had to research the required training, education, and skill set need to be successful in their job along with numerous other factors about their chosen career. A very special celebration was held on March 22 for the 4 students who won the Outstanding Videography award for their “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” video! Thanks Mr. Rick Pearce & Mrs. Anne Banks, from the Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce, for being a part of this celebration and presenting this award to our students. We are so proud of Emma Wilson, Danielle White, Michael Clifton & Steven Turner for receiving this award! Special thanks to Mrs. Andrea Hobson for her leadership, time & commitment given to these students & this project.

Edgewood Elementary School Featured in our "Edgewood Experience" Video

Please enjoy our 3rd "Edgewood Experience" video which highlights the new after-school clubs recently started at Edgewood Elementary School. Our EES team, along with support from EHS students, kicked off four new interest clubs for our EES students, including a Gardening Club, Kindness Club, Photography Club, and the Newspaper Club. Over 200 students are participating in these clubs. While in these clubs our students experience challenging learning opportunities, along with collaborating with new friends, and creating a culminating activity to highlight innovative learning at EES!

EMS Student Makes Threat- March 18

EMS Administrators were made aware of a student who threatened to harm another student at school. The student told his intention to one of our staff members, who acted quickly and notified the Administrators and SRO. The student was quickly removed from the classroom. A search took place of the student and no weapon was found. After investigating the threat, the student who made the threat, was removed from school property by BCSO. Discipline was initiated for this behavior and charges were filed. We sincerely appreciate the quick actions of our staff member who notified our Administrators about this threat. Keeping our students and staff safe is our number one priority. Any type of threat, whether verbal or physical, will be taken seriously and acted upon.

Mattie's Day Event

The show of support at the Mattie's Day event on March 12 was incredible. It was a sellout crowd at the Madison Mohawk's gym. The Edgewood and Madison staff kept the crowd on their feet throughout the basketball game. In addition to the game, all the other activities planned throughout the evening's event helped to to make it an evening everyone will remember. "Edgewood Experience" featuring Dr. Seuss Night at our Babeck Early Childhood Center

We're excited to share our 2nd "Edgewood Experience" video with you! This is a new initiative for our district. It's purpose is to share information about the different activities, events, and accomplishments that go on throughout our district. A different school will be featured in each of these short videos. This video captured special moments from the Dr. Seuss Night, that took place on February 28, at Babeck. This was the 7th year for this event. Over 70 Edgewood staff members, parents, and students from other schools volunteered to make this event possible for the 400+ Babeck students and families who attended this year's event!

Our amazing Edgewood Overtures had a wonderful second competition at Ross on March 1st. The Overtures were awarded 2nd runner up and Aaron Castro was awarded 'Best Male Soloist" of the ENTIRE competition. So proud of our Overtures! Congratulations to each of these talented students.

STEM Students Vist TechSolve

7th grade students learned about manufacturing, engineering, and career opportunities in today's industrial world during a visit to TechSolve, Inc. in Cincinnati. While they were there, they participated in a penny bucket challenge. Students designed, built, and tested a device from straws, tape, cups, and string to hold penny's above the table by at least 3 inches all within 20 minutes. Our winning group bucket held over two and half pounds of penny's! Students also toured the physical build and test facility. A wonderful experience had by all!

STEM Design Build Challenge Competition

Our EMS 8th graders competed at the BCESC and ThermoFisher STEM competition at Harrison High School on February 22. Teams from around the area were challenged to address a type of cancer using K'Nex buildings materials. Using the K'Nex pieces along with extensive research, brainstorming, sketching, and creativity, these teams designed symbolic nanotechnology devices intended to destroy and/or treat cancer cells. All the teams did well in their presentations to the judges. We are very proud of Ayden Szymanowski, Taylor Power, and Adam Hall who received Honorable Mention from the judges. Everyone who competed spent a tremendous about of time, dedication and hard work preparing for this competition. Our students did a outstanding job and Edgewood is truly proud of their efforts!

Results of our Overtures 1st Competition

Congratulations to our Overtures who competed in their very 1st competition on Feb. 15 at Hamilton High School. They competed against schools from Ohio & Indiana. Their hard work was rewarded with a 2nd runner up award. So proud of our incredibly talented students!
