Contained in this website are all of the standards on which your child is working in each academic class. They are updated as your child moves on to new content. Simply click "Departments" at the top of the page. All academic departments will appear. Browse through them at your leisure and utilize the content to start conversations with your child about what goes on in their classrooms. Each teacher is connected to their content area. If you have questions about what you are seeing, select the "staff" icon on the right of the page for a direct link to teacher e mails.
Here are some good questions to ask your child to start the conversation:
1.) What standard did you work on in class today?
2.) How do you think your assignments are helping you master this standard?
3.) What confuses you about what you are learning?
4.) What are the next steps you will be taking in your work on this standard?
5.) Can you define _________ (choose a word from the standard and have your child tell you what it means)
So many parents want to take an active role in their child's education but don't know the right questions to ask. Each day hundreds of students are asked, "What did you learn in school today?" and parents get a shoulder shrug in response. These questions will help you elicit a more detailed response from your child and help you keep a steady finger on the pulse of your child's education. As always, please contact us if you would like to discuss even more ways to stayed involved in what your child is learning.
