Veterans Honored at EMS

This year at EMS, Veterans serving in multiple areas of the armed forces came to share their experiences with our students. The day started off with former Edgewood student Tyler Beatty who is a member of the Special Forces. It continued with our eighth graders hearing from current and retired military service women and men. Edgewood Middle gives a sincere thank you to all of our women and men in uniform.

Red Ribbon Week at EMS

Each year EMS celebrates Red Ribbon Week to draw students attention to the dangers of using or being associated with drugs and their accompanying violence. We also stress the importance of making healthy choices and living a clean life style. Staff Sergeant Stayonovich of the Ohio Air National Guard's Counter Drug Task Force talked to our entire student body. A huge thank you to Mr. Chris Stratton, our seventh and eighth grade guidance counselor for arranging this presentation.

KNOW Theater Comes to EMS

KNOW Theater came to EMS on October 19 to support us in our ongoing stance against bullying. All FOR Club members were trained in bystander and leadership. They were given tools and strategies to stop negative student interactions and promote positive relationships. Additionally, all seventh grade students had an opportunity to participate in a presentation that focuses on the anti-bullying message. FOR Club members have also been diligently working to prepare for Red Ribbon Week - October 16-20. During this time we "team up against drugs and bullying".

Fearlessly Female - An EMS club for young women

Mrs. Hunt (school counselor) and Mrs Ruether (EMS Assistant Principal) are facilitating Fearlessly Female, a club for the young women of EMS. Fearlessly Female will meet six times per grade level starting with grade 6. Our focus is to give tools to our young women that will help them navigate these often challenging middle school years.
